Clubbing culture and free cultural spaces

Lokale Viertel Erkundungstouren

The clubbing culture in berlin is pretty unique. The fall of the berlin wall made a lot of these places possible in the first place. A lot of new and free cultural spaces in the middle of berlin all over sudden became available and made it possible to experiment without a lot of fixed costs.
These places have an important cultural function. Safe spaces are created for the visitors, they are constantly changing their appearance and have a close connection to the local art scene. Every month the flyers for berghain are getting designed by changing artists and for their tenth anniversary they gifted themselves an amazing art exhibition. Also city development is influenced by the clubbing culture, as you can see at the amazing Holzmarkt project.
Also politicians are slowly discovering that clubs are not just cultural influencer, but also an important economical factor in the fast growing city which is making around 1,5 Billion Euro each year. We are going to discover why the clubbing scene is so important for the city and how you can protect it in the future.
