Bauhaus-Archiv und Kulturforum

In Kooperation mit Ticket B - Architektur erleben

Even though the Bauhaus Archive will still be closed for some time, you can already experience it from a new perspective. The walk starts at the old and future location of the institution with the world's most extensive Bauhaus collection. The building with its striking shed roofs is currently being restored and extended in line with its listed status. From bauhaus view, you can look out over the construction site and the extension planned by Berlin architect Volker Staab, which will offer plenty of space for exhibitions and educational work in the future. Along the Landwehr Canal with exciting buildings from the International Building Exhibition from the 1980s, the route leads to the Kulturforum, which has once again become an architectural highlight with the reopened Neue Nationalgalerie and the much-discussed Museum of the 20th Century, which is currently under construction. Building designs by two Bauhaus directors - Walter Gropius and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe - as well as the influences of modern Bauhaus ideas and the future of the Kulturforum are examined more closely during the tour.
