In the attic of the museum, which is otherwise not open to the public, Soviet military personnel have left inscriptions in various places. These bear witness to the almost fifty years of Soviet use of the building. After a short introductory lecture on the everyday life of the Soviet armed forces in Karlshorst, the inscriptions are explained in small groups, equipped with flashlights.

True signs. Contemporary witnesses of history

Sunday, September 8, 2024, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. at the Museum Berlin-Karlshorst

The Museum Berlin-Karlshorst is the site of the end of the war in Europe in 1945. The post-war period and the decades that followed also shaped the history of the site. A variety of historical signs and traces in the museum itself and in its surroundings can tell of the Soviet presence in Karlshorst until the 1990s - are thus “true signs” and “contemporary witnesses”. The program on September 8, 2024 sheds light on the Soviet history of the neighborhood in a special way and invites visitors to discover various of these true signs.
