Built in 1935 as the Reich Aviation Ministry, the building is associated with the founding of the GDR and the construction of the Berlin Wall; as the "House of Ministries" it was the center of power in the GDR, after the fall of the Wall the Treuhandanstalt was based here, today it houses the Federal Ministry of Finance: The Detlev Rohwedder House in Berlin's Wilhelmstrasse reflects the ruptures in German history. In her installation "Palimpsest" (2024), Andrea Pichl deals with the building complex. Together with the Hamburger Bahnhof - Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart, the Federal Ministry of Finance is opening its rooms for an artistic examination of the history of the building. Andrea Pichl's solo exhibition "Wertewirtschaft" will be on display at the Hamburger Bahnhof from November 8th, 2024 to May 4th, 2025.
