The Waterproofed Artist

An interactive dance performance by Youness Atbane

A floating pavilion of the global south and MENA region at the Venice Biennale in 2048. The city succumbs to the water. Inbetween sinking pavilions, art pieces and artists begin to drift. What is worth to be saved? Is it a question of cultural dominance? Atbane, whose artistic practice is based on a critical relationship with the fields of art and geopolitics, interrogates the impact of postcolonial theory and challenges current definitions of the ‘art of the global south’.
