For well over 100 years, "Swan Lake" has inspired the imagination of children and adults alike. It is hard to believe that Tchaikovsky experienced a resounding failure at the premiere in 1877. It was not until 18 years later that two choreographers from St. Petersburg set new standards with their new production and gave the work immortality:

Marius Petipa as an expert for the splendid society scenes at the royal court and Lev Ivanov with his weightless swan images that seem to have been dabbed on. Between the two spheres, Prince Siegfried has a difficult task to master: Only if he proves the steadfastness of his love will the enchanted swan princess Odette be released from her curse. A captivating experience for the whole family, all the more so when the Hungary Festival Orchestra performs Tchaikovsky's ballet music live.
