As part of its 9th International Encounter for Young Dance Artists "How to dance in times of crisis?" in Berlin from December 20, 2024 to January 5, 2025, the Initiative LUNA PARK is now realizing the collective performance format LUNAPARK.works for the sixth time. For LUNAPARK.works 06, the participants worked together to create their own short performances, including solos and group pieces, some as works in progress, which will be presented to the public at Studio 1 of the Wedding Uferstudios on January 3 and 4, 2025.
The exchange program "How to dance in times of crisis?" has already been organized by the Initiative LUNA PARK since 2016 with annual encounters in Berlin and Athens. How does our understanding of art change in times of serious social upheaval, in times of local and global crises? How does our artistic expression change? Do we dance differently in times of crisis? Can dance move something - even outside the theater? These are the questions the participating young dancers deal with in the lectures, seminars and discussions, and also with dance-theoretical and philosophical approaches to the conception and evaluation of contemporary dance and performance art. They will be supported and curated by experienced choreographers and dance artists, who will also lead practical workshops in choreography and improvisation as well as joint dance rehearsals, and who will support the young artists in particular in their work on their own projects, which will be shown as part of LUNAPARK.works 06.

LUNA PARK, founded in 2002 as an initiative of independent artists, has been realizing contemporary dance productions with performances in Germany and abroad for over 20 years, as well as a wide range of extracurricular artistic education projects for children, teenagers and young adults and international exchange and encounter programs for young dance professionals and dance education specialists. Locally, LUNA PARK is primarily active in Berlin-Wedding. In 2019, LUNA PARK institutionalized itself at Gesundbrunnen Primary School as the non-profit association Initiative LUNA PARK e.V. in order to open up the school as a cultural, meeting and production venue for contemporary dance and to optimize the synergies between LUNA PARK's various fields of work. The “tanz(t)räume” project, funded by TANZPAKT Stadt-Land-Bund, plays a special role in the realization of this concept, with which the Initiative LUNA PARK has been offering young dance professionals the opportunity to develop and present their own performative projects as part of an artist residency since 2022.
