Stopgap Dance Company

Ever since its formation 20 years ago, the Stopgap Dance Company has seen itself as a driving force for social change. “Lived Fiction” proposes what inclusive dance could look like in the future: Without barriers. A diverse, multi-ethnic ensemble dances and narrates the vision of equal coexistence. The voice of the audio description plays independently, just as much as the constantly changing surtitles. In solos, duets, and group scenes, the dancers create a powerful utopia based on a community of differences. Dreamlike movements alternate with energetic group choreography. The depiction of the beauty of individual worlds of perception is combined with a poetic, innovative aesthetic of all-encompassing accessibility. A multi-layered, brilliantly danced ensemble work that's as soft as candy floss. And an encouraging blueprint that envisions togetherness beyond all barriers.
