Unusual Symptoms / Theater Bremen / Adrienn Hód – Hodworks

Slowly, almost imperceptibly, a supposed warm-up becomes a flow of choreographed encounters. Intimately and cautiously, the possibilities and limits of different bodies are explored. Suddenly the mood shifts, and the performance explodes into a powerful spectacle full of energy and rhythm – and a completely new dynamic unfolds to the pulsating sounds of pop music.

In “Harmonia”, Unusual Symptoms and choreographer Adrienn Hód challenge us to re-examine the human body and its significance in dance and society. Amidst concentrated explorations of physical diversity, joyful exuberance, and a healthy dose of self-irony, an ensemble of dancers with and without disabilities questions the hierarchies of classical dance as well as the supposedly progressive forms of contemporary dance art. Asking for the audience's undivided attention, they jettison conventional notions of the body and the structures built around it, setting out to playfully reorient our gaze.
