CARNE

What do we eat? What do we have to swallow? Power structures have left deep bites in our bodies and relationships. As flesh, we too are edible, bound together in more-than-human-ecologies, not above but part of nature. As we taste and devour, we create impactful relationships between each other and the world that we keep feeding. What do we want to spit out? What to digest and transform in and through us to keep us moving? The dance performance CARNE (flesh) places physicality and encounters as a starting point of resistance, healing and transformation, bearing a potential that transcends Western imagination and rationalities. CARNE centers Black perspectives and invites the audience to experience the Brazilian art movement of anthropophagy.
This performance is part of the ‘opening weekend’. From September 11-15, Tanzfabrik BÜHNE will open the new season with a festive weekend in the Uferstudios and in their new additional location: the Grüntaler 9 shop.
