The compositions of Berlin double bassist Jaspar Libuda are classical soundscapes, musical stories without words, a declaration of love to melody and the deep feelings it can evoke. His trio with guitarist Florian Segelke and drummer Sven Tappert has been around for almost 20 years. Using a five-string double bass with a high C-string built especially for him, Jaspar Libuda creates timbres reminiscent of cello, percussion, guitar and oud. Guitarist Florian Segelke uses his eight-string classical guitar, electronic effects and various strumming techniques to create a sound spectrum that oscillates between rich bass, powerful distorted and delicate, classical guitar tones.
