Concert with the Collegium musicum Potsdam

For the first time in its history, the Collegium musicum Potsdam, the city's oldest orchestra, will be playing in the Marmorpalais. In the concert hall of King Frederick William II, who cultivated the cello, the cello will take center stage as a solo instrument. The program will include works by Luigi Boccherini, Christoph Willibald Gluck, Joseph Haydn and Jean-Pierre Duport - all composers whom Frederick William II held in high esteem. Boccherini is music by the king's court composer and Duport is a composition by his cello teacher and first cellist in the court chapel.

The solo works will be performed by the Brazilian cellist André Micheletti, who already appeared with the Collegium musicum in Potsdam in 2022.

Micheletti has already performed with numerous orchestras in the USA, Canada and Brazil. He is also intensively involved in symphonic music life in Brazil, for example as Artistic Director of the Piracicaba International Festival of Classical Music or as Deputy Artistic Director of the Piracicaba Symphony Orchestra. He also teaches as a professor of cello and chamber music at the Institute of Music at the University of São Paulo in Ribeirão Preto.

The symphony orchestra Collegium musicum Potsdam was founded shortly after the end of the war in 1945 by the composer and conductor Prof. Hans Chemin-Petit. As a symphony orchestra that has been working continuously for decades, the Collegium musicum unites volunteer musicians from Potsdam, Berlin and the state of Brandenburg. With an annual audience of around 2,500, the "Klassik am Weberplatz" series by the Collegium musicum Potsdam symphony orchestra is now one of the ensemble's long-standing activities.

We invite you to round off the concert with a glass of sparkling wine.Translated with DeepL
