WHAT THE FUGUE
The New Piano Trio of the “Pool of Invention” offers an unprecedented new approach to the fugue as the supreme compositional discipline of the Baroque. In “Fuga in Odd”, Florian Willeitner already combined strict counterpoint with Balkan rhythmic fire. He now takes this idea a step further. His newly composed preludes and fugues, which can be heard here, bow to the specific tonal languages of various composers from the past and present. Instead of freezing in awe of his role models, the violinist and composer always seeks a productive exchange with the musical past.
