Organ concert with Prof Dr Martin Schmeding (Leipzig University of Music)

Prof Schmeding is one of the most renowned organists of our time and an internationally active concert organist.

He will play works from the period when the organ was built (G. Bunk: Legende in G minor; P. Whitlock: Scherzetto from the Sonata in C minor; S. Karg-Elert: Die Seele des Bodensees from op. 96 and Finale from the Symphony in F sharp minor; F. Schmidt: Toccata in D major; M. Reger: Choralfantasie Freu dich sehr; J. Roger-Ducasse: Pastorale).

The German late-romantic organ in St. Marien dating from 1925 with a warm and fundamental sound is the largest organ work by Anton Feith senior that has been substantially preserved and was completely renovated in 2018/2019. All organists of the organ cycle play from the mobile console in the church and can be seen during the concert.
