Pop, rock and film music on the church organ

When you think of organ music, you naturally first think of Johann Sebastian Bach. The church musician Michael Schütz (Berlin) is breaking new ground and bringing Dancing Queen, We Are The Champions and Imagine to the Gedächtniskirche. “Basically, for me it is more than a concert,” says Michael, “I also want to show the listeners how music relates to their own lives and, in the context of the church interior and the sound of the organ, enable an inner connection to the church.

Familiar melodies awaken memories, previous emotions are revived - the listeners experience church as a space for their own soul. Abba- and Queen-Songs invite you to sing along inside, John Lennon refers to the hope of human existence, and the atmosphere of Harry Potter or James Bond allows heroes to be resurrected. Beatles, Sting, Pirates of the Caribbean: Epochal highlights on the organ. The program is suitable for young and old, organ lovers and culture enthusiasts, Christians and people who are not religious.
