Once to the Olympic Stadium and back: more than 10,000 runners take part in Germany's oldest city run every year.
Still under the name "25 km de Berlin", the city run took place for the first time on May 3, 1981. It was founded by the French Major Bride. In 2008, "Berlin läuft!" took over the event as the new organizer. While participants initially only ran a 25-kilometre course through Berlin, the program has since been expanded to include a children's run, a 10-kilometre course, a 5x5 km relay and a half marathon. The 5-kilometer run (individual and team classification) is still quite new.
The starting point for the "S 25 Berlin" is Olympiaplatz in front of the Olympic Stadium. Depending on the route, it continues along Kaiserdamm, past the Victory Column and the Brandenburg Gate, via Friedrichstraße, Gendarmenmarkt, Potsdamer Platz, Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, Kurfürstendamm, Kantstraße and Reichsstraße. The finish line is the blue track in the Olympic Stadium. The award ceremony and medal ceremony will take place afterwards.
