The "Gardens of the World" are part of the Berlin-Marzahn recreation park. Meadows, flowerbeds and walking paths are spread over the extensive park area.
In 1998, craftsmen from the Far East built a Chinese teahouse against the high-rise backdrop of Berlin's Marzahn district. "The Garden of the Reclaimed Moon" was to be available as a recreational facility to the residents of the new development district starting in the spring of 2000. The cost of the Chinese garden was seven million marks. The work was carried out by skilled Chinese workers.
With 6.7 acres, the Chinese Garden in Marzahn is the largest Chinese garden in Europe. It was created in close cooperation with Berlin's partner city Beijing. The entire garden was planned by Chinese architects and all building parts and even the impressive Thai-Hu stones were imported.
