The number of tourists to Berlin rose significantly in the first nine months of 2024 compared to the previous year.
From January to September, 9.5 million guests with almost 23 million overnight stays came to the capital, according to the Berlin-Brandenburg Statistical Office. This corresponds to a year-on-year increase of 5.1 percent in the number of guests and 2.7 percent in the number of overnight stays.
According to the figures, the increase in visitors from abroad was particularly high. That was 11.5 percent more visitors and 7.3 percent more overnight stays than in the same period in 2023. A highlight for tourists this year was the European Football Championship in Germany with six matches in the capital.
