According to the figures, around 70,000 electric vehicles are currently registered in Berlin. Of these, 90 percent are passenger cars with electric drives or plug-in hybrids and ten percent are electric buses and vans, electric motorcycles and light vehicles. Around 25,000 charging points are currently available for them, at which a good 300 megawatt hours (MWh) are charged every day. The majority of charging points are private. Around 3850 charging points are publicly accessible, of which around 2400 are on public roads and 1450 on private land. A figure of 400,000 electric cars with a daily charging requirement of 2000 MWh is expected for 2030.
