In Berlin, salaried employees in the rescue service of the fire department will also receive an allowance in addition to their salary in the future.
The regulation applies retroactively from December 1 and is limited until the end of 2025, as the Senate Department of Finance announced on Friday. Per month, up to 450 euros, a maximum of 5400 per year, will be paid, as a spokesman for the Finance Administration explained. From the tariff community of German countries (TdL), to which Berlin belongs, it had given for the appropriate initiative from the capital in the meantime the necessary agreement. Previously, an earlier attempt had failed.
A comparable allowance regulation for civil servant rescue workers has been in effect since the end of 2022. They will also receive an amount of five euros per alert with effect from December 1. The amount of the allowance for pay-scale employees reportedly corresponds to the amount that civil servants earn on average, according to calculations by the Interior Administration. There are currently 110 salaried employees working in the rescue service.
