This Christmas season, shops will again be open on two Sundays in Berlin.
The 2nd of Advent (December 4) and the 4th of Advent (December 18) are planned as Shopping Sundays, the Senate Depsrtment announced on Sunday via Twitter. On these Sundays, stores and shopping centers can open for business
"After considering the complex legal situation, the management of the Senate Department has decided to continue the tradition of two shopping Sundays in Advent," a spokesman for the Senate Department for Labour and Social Services announced last Monday. Due to a ruling by the Federal Administrative Court in March, it was not yet clear if and when there would be open Sundays in the pre-Christmas period this year.
