Unemployment in Berlin has fallen slightly. In October, 178,432 people were registered as unemployed in the capital, the responsible regional directorate of the Federal Employment Agency announced on Wednesday.
This was 1842 fewer than in September and 7614 fewer than in October of the previous year. The unemployment rate in Berlin was at 8.8 percent in October, 0.1 points below the September level. Compared with the same month last year, the rate fell by 0.4 percentage points.
"In October 2022, the effects of the flight movements from Ukraine due to the Russian war of aggression continue," the regional directorate said. The number of job vacancies in Berlin remains at a high level, with 20,571 positions currently vacant. "High labor demand is reported by companies in the economic sectors of trade, transport and warehousing, temporary work, administration and management of companies, health, and public administration." 4213 new vacancies were reported in October.
