Peace demonstration on Sunday: 100,000 people announced

Demonstration in Berlin

Once again, large peace demonstrations against Russia's war in Ukraine are to take place in Berlin and other cities.

At noon on Sunday (13 March 2022, 12 noon), thousands of people want to walk under the slogan "Stop the war. Peace and solidarity for the people of Ukraine" from Berlin's Alexanderplatz to the Straße des 17. Juni. The alliance of organisers has registered 100,000 participants with the police. It remains to be seen how many people will actually come. Demonstrations are also planned in Hamburg, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Leipzig.

Over 100,000 participants at the previous demonstration

The alliance of trade unions, churches, initiatives, environmental organisations and peace groups had already initiated a large demonstration on 27 February shortly after Russia's attack on 24 February. More than a hundred thousand people took to the streets in Berlin.

Extensive closures and traffic disruptions

The Berlin Traffic Information Centre (VIZ) warned of extensive closures and traffic disruptions. Due to the size of the demonstration, restrictions on the roads are to be expected throughout the day. Road users should avoid the city centre if possible. Those wishing to take part in the demonstration should definitely travel by public transport.
