The Cool and the Cold. Painting in the USA and the USSR 1960–1990

The exhibition «The Cool and the Cold» in Berlin's Martin-Gropius-Bau critically examines American Pop Art and art from the Soviet Union.

Under the title «The Cool and the Cold. Painting in the USA and the USSR 1960–1990: Ludwig Collection», works by Andy Warhol, Ilya Kabakov, Erik Bulatov, Lee Lozano, Jackson Pollock, Helen Frankenthaler, Viktor Pivovarov, Natalya Nesterova and Ivan Čujkov from the Ludwig Collection, among others, are brought into relation with each other. The show examines how artists from both sides of the East-West conflict reacted to political and aesthetic questions of their time.
