The international gardens from all continents within the extended "Gardens of the World" site are the major attractions of the festival. There are also enclosed garden cabinets, which show contemporary trends in garden art. Laid out especially for the IGA, the new park areas further include atmospheric water gardens, an English landscape garden and an open-air stage with up to 5000 seats.
Exhibitions in the flower hall, palm house and numerous outdoor displays show the rich diversity of current landscape design. The exhibition site also contains a spectacular viewpoint in the shape of a cloud, the "Wolkenhain", which offers uninterrupted views of the centre of Berlin and the surrounding Brandenburg countryside.
Unquestionably a major highlight, a ropeway system from the main entrance of the IGA - the U-Bahn station "Kienberg – Gärten der Welt" - to the central area of the garden exhibition provides an excellent view of the IGA grounds and its various horticultural and architectural attractions.
