Christmas galore: The Christmas film festival is the first of its kind and takes place at the Moviemento cinema in Kreuzberg.
The Berlin Weihnachtsfilmfestival (Christmas Film Festival) wants to offer a home to all those who want to escape the Christmas rush or who don't have their loved ones nearby at Christmas time. Unconventional Christmas films are shown, such as Christmas comedies, but also critical, tragic, satirical and gruesome films about the festival of love.
The 2024 Christmas Film Festival brings colorful diversity to the Berlin Advent season: As part of the "Queer Advent Special", queer feature films and short films with a Christmas flair will be shown every Sunday in Advent, including Sean Baker's "Tangerine L.A." and Todd Haynes' "Carol". The short films shown are under the mottos "Coming Home" and "Staying Strong". The audience can therefore look forward to a varied program of comedies, dramas, animated films and documentaries. The "Xmas Animation Special" follows on December 24 and 26 with a fascinating selection of animated short films.
