Dance in August (Tanz im August) is one of the most important festivals of dance theater in Europe. It focuses on contemporary dance and experimental choreographies performed by accomplished dancers from all over the world.
Dance in August is a well-established international contemporary dance festival that is open to and encourages new formats and innovative choreographies. Performances often include German premieres and Berlin debuts. Visitors to can discover current trends in contemporary dance. Audience discussions, films, parties and the new "Library in August" bring artists, experts and the public together.
In 2024, the festival will take place at ten different locations in Berlin. The centre of the festival is located in the HAU2 venue at Hebbel am Ufer. HAU1, Haus der Berliner Festspiele, Kraftwerk Berlin, Radialsystem, Sophiensæle, St. Elisabeth Church, Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz and Tempelhofer Feld are also taking part.
Once again this year, numerous international artists and groups are taking part - including Dorothée Munyaneza, Tamara Cubas, Soa Ratsifandrihana, Francisco Camacho, Meg Stuart, Amanda Piña, Michelle Moura, Amala Dianor, Mette Ingvartsen, Christos Papadopoulos and Jefta van Dinther.
