This open-air concert of the Berlin State Opera Orchestra is an annual cultural highlight for fans of classical music. The concert is open to everyone free of charge.

Staatsoper für alle ("State Opera for Everyone") is the name of an annual classical concert under the baton of Christian Thielemann in the heart of Berlin. For one day, the award-winning orchestra of the State Opera Berlin assembles on a temporary stage at Bebelplatz in Berlin-Mitte to play a number of pieces. The concert is very popular among Berliners and tourists - and completely free of charge.

Classical Music in a Casual Atmosphere

To ensure good acoustics and create an intimate, occasion-appropriate atmosphere, Bebelplatz and sections of the boulevard Unter den Linden are closed for traffic for the time of the concert. Visitors may bring collapsible chairs, blankets, picnic hampers and beverages to the concert area.

Programme for "State Opera for All" 2024

The programme for the live concert on July 13, 2024 includes Richard Wagner's overture to "Tannhäuser und der Sängerkrieg auf Wartburg" and "Eine Alpensinfonie" op. 64 by Richard Strauss. The concert will be conducted by Christian Thielemann. The children's opera orchestra, conducted by Giuseppe Mentuccia, and the children's choir, conducted by Vinzenz Weissenburger, will perform works by Antonín Dvořák in the "pre-programme" from 6.00 pm. As in the previous year, an event will take place the day before as part of the "State Opera for All" programme: On 12 of July 2024 at 7 pm, "Melancholy of Resistance" by Marc-André Dalbavie, which will be performed live in the main hall in front of an audience, will be broadcast directly on Bebelplatz. No tickets are required for either event.
