In Wedding, one encounters both spacious apartments in old buildings and social housing estates from the 1970s and 1980s. Rents are still quite low compared to other districts in Berlin's city center. Together with the good traffic situation, this increases the attractiveness of the district.
Wedding: Residential Areas & Infrastructure
For a long time, Wedding was not considered a very attractive residential district. Thanks to a lot of redevelopment and investment, it is now well on the way to becoming a popular residential area.
Residential Areas
Location
Wedding is located in the northwest of Berlin and borders directly on the city center. The southern border is the Berlin-Spandau Ship Canal and Bernauer Straße.
Public Transport
The district is very well connected to both the city train and the subway. The Ringbahn and the subway line U6, which connects Tegel and Tempelhof, both stop at Wedding station. Gesundbrunnen station not only offers connections to the Ringbahn and the S2, S25, S8, S1 and U8, but also serves as a long-distance station with many international and national departures. In the center of Wedding, at Leopoldplatz, you can board the U9, which runs from the north of the district all the way to Berlin-Steglitz. The district is also served by trams and buses.
Traffic Axes
For motorists, Seestraße is the most important traffic axis. It offers a direct connection to the city highway.
