The northwest of Berlin-Mitte features a few old buildings paired with gap-filling new buildings. It is also home to the Friedrichstadtpalast and the Charité Hospital. Schiffbauerdamm, with its many restaurants and landing stage for excursion steamers, is popular with tourists.
Mitte: Northwest
The northwest of Mitte is close to the district of Wedding. Its landmarks Schiffbauerdamm and the Friedrichstadtpalast are rich in tradition.
Oranienburger Vorstadt
The Museum of Natural History, and the two cemeteries Invalidenfriedhof and Dorotheenstädtischer Friedhof are located in the neighborhood ofOranienburger Vorstadt, which used to be an important industrial site. It is a historical district of Berlin, which today is located in Mitte but also extends into the districts of Gesundbrunnen and Wedding.
Townhouses on the Ship Canal
On the Berlin-Spandau Ship Canal, not far from Nordhafen, luxury townhouses with a view of the water have been built in recent years. They are part of Europacity, a large urban development area north of the Berlin Central Station.
