Combining culture and entertainment: Experiential and interactive exhibitions in Berlin offer art and cultural history to see, hear, touch and try out. more
The immersive exhibition "Viva Frida Kahlo" at the Napoleon Complex is a visually powerful journey through the life and work of the famous Mexican artist.
The exhibition promises a 360-degree sensory experience, an explosion of color and pure vitality. Visitors to the Berlin Napoleon Complex will embark on a journey to the Casa Azul in Coyoacán, Mexico, where the young Frida Kahlo, began to paint after being confined to her bed after a serious accident.
Visitors are literally drawn into Frida Kahlo's world during the 1920s, 30s and 40s and will be immersed in her colorful paintings and self-portraits depicting a life full of grace, pain and an unbroken will to live. Elaborate all-round projections create exotic color worlds full of emotions and let visitors experience the full effect of Frida Kahlo's works in large format.
Using high-performance projectors, Kahlo's paintings, which appear almost tiny in their original version in comparison, are brought to life and projected onto walls up to 10 meters long and 5.5 meters high as well as onto the floor of the exhibition hall. For an all-round sensory experience, a narrator in the role of the artist guides visitors through the emotional world of the emancipated painter with original quotations. A specially composed soundtrack underscores the immersive staging.
