Context

The Berlin-based artist Vermibus dedicates the urban art exhibition «Context» to contemporary ideals of beauty.

The temporary cultural venue «Pop Kudamm» invites you to its first exhibition. The works of the Spanish-born artist focus on commenting on the depersonalising effect of advertising, which he negates through exaggeration. He removes official advertising posters from public spaces and transforms them with the help of solvents. In the process, he dissolves the retouching effects on the faces and flesh of the models shown in the advertising campaigns, blurs and removes the brand logos and places the altered works back in their original context.

The Berlin exhibition addresses the question: What is beautiful? How much beauty is reality or just wishful thinking? And how much of what we see in social media is authentic and real? «Context» shows images and installations as well as works that are installed in public spaces and can be experienced with VR technology.
