Depoorter spends years getting to know the people in her work. These relationships reorder the power relationship between her as a photographer and the respective protagonists in her pictures. They make it possible to observe those people and their lives without judging their choices. Through the two biographies of Agata and Michael and the two projects based on them, Depoorter examines individual life paths and touches on socio-political issues that are rarely shown. By working intensively and unfiltered with her photographic subjects, the young photographer grants viewers in CO Berlin intimate access to their lives and the personal bond she has built with them.
