The jury selected from over 60,000 photos by more than 3,800 photographers from 130 countries. The winning photos will be shown in an exhibition in over 45 countries. The World Press Photo exhibition was compiled from the winning photos in the various categories and will be on display for the 21st time at the Willy Brandt House in Berlin.

Evgeniy Maloletka's "Mariupol Maternity Hospital Airstrike" Wins Press Photo of the Year 2023
This year's winner of the World Press Photo of the Year is the Ukrainian journalist and photographer Evgeniy Maloletka. His photograph of the siege of Mariupol powerfully captures the human suffering caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine in a single image. Maloletka lived in a hospital basement in Mariupol for weeks while Russian bombs were dropped on the city.
