The new König exhibition "Nothing is as it appears" by Danish artist Jeppe Hein combines the practice of yoga with sculptural art.
With reference to various yoga poses (asanas), the relationship of a work to a pose is sometimes depicted playfully with a wink in the chapel of St. Agnes Church. In other cases, however, the connection is more fundamental and refers to a coherent whole. The exhibition "Nothing is as it appears" refers to the book of the same name, which invites visitors to discover the subtle connection between the practice of Yoga and Hein's art.
Jeppe Hein was born in 1974 in Copenhagen, Denmark, and is considered a representative of kinetic art. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Art and the Städel School of Fine Arts in Frankfurt. In 2012 Jeppe Hein was awarded the Robert Jacobsen Prize. Hein lives and works in Berlin.
