Alicja Kwade: In Abwesenheit

Alicja Kwade's expansive installations in the exhibition «In Abwesenheit» («In Absence») transform constructions into models for the perception of time, space and matter.

Alicja Kwade is one of the most sought-after contemporary artists* of our day. Her works are inspired by scientific, philosophical and social questions. Materials such as gold, coal, stone or symbolically charged objects such as clocks and lamps play a special role for the artist as references to aspects of time, energy, matter or certain value attributions.
