Artist Complex: Photographic Portraits from Baselitz to Warhol

In the exhibition "Artist Complex", the Museum für Fotografie (Museum of Photography) is showing around 180 pictures from the collection of artist portrait photographer Angelika Platen.

The focus is on the artist, who is understood in the exhibition as a complex, a structure of certain ideas and motifs. A pictorial appearance is created from several joined levels. These portraits from the 20th century depict this "artist complex" in many different ways. Among others, well-known artists such as Frida Kahlo, Andy Warhol and Pablo Picasso, who were photographed by photographers such as Brassaï and Robert Doisneau, are on display.
