World Press Photo 19

The annual World Press Photo Award is the world's largest and internationally recognized competition for press photography. The exhibition will be presented at the Willy Brandt House in Berlin.

The jury selected around 78,000 photos from 4700 photographers from 129 countries. The winning photos will be shown in an exhibition in over 45 countries. The exhibition World Press Photo was compiled from the winning photos of the various categories and will be shown for the 16th time in Berlin's Willy Brandt Haus.

John Moore's "Crying Girl on the Border" is the press photo of the year.

The picture "Crying Girl on the Border" by the US photographer John Moore was awarded the "World Press Photo of the Year" in 2019. The photo shows the girl Yanela from Honduras crying as her mother Sandra Sanchez is searched by a border official in Texas.
