From temporary solution to crowd favorite: this cozy Christmas market takes place at one of Berlins most historic venues, the Spandau Citadel.

The historic walls of the Spandau Citadel are the perfect backdrop for a cozy Christmas market. The scent of roasted almonds and mulled wine that lingers over everything, as well as the traditional stalls with handicrafts, nibbles and unusual gift ideas, put even Christmas sceptics in a festive mood. A special highlight for young visitors are the historic rides for children.

From Temporary Solution to Crowd Favorite

The Coronavirus pandemic has had a positive effect in at least one respect. When the popular Christmas market in Spandau's old town could not take place in 2020 and 2021, the Spandau Citadel was chosen as an alternative location because it offered better options for compliance with pandemic-related regulations. Visitors soon fell in love with the new, historic setting. Today, Spandau boasts two of Berlin's most popular Christmas markets. In 2022, both Christmas markets took place in parallel for the first time.
