Berlin Brandenburg Airport BER Willy Brandt is the major airport for the Berlin and Brandenburg conurbation. BER is located in the state of Brandenburg, on the southern border with Berlin. It consists of two terminals in one complex: Terminals 1 and 2 are located in a newly built airport building.
BER Airport is designed for a capacity of 27 million passengers per year. The airport has two terminals. Terminals 1 and 2 right next to each other in a newly constructed building. Terminal 1 is the largest terminal at the airport with ten check-in islands, a total of 118 counters and a visitor terrace. Terminal 2 was opened on 24 March 2022.
With over 20,000 employees, Berlin Brandenburg Airport is almost a small city in itself. For passengers looking to spend some time between flights, the airport offers an experience unique in Germany: a 9,000-square-meter marketplace with shops, cafés and restaurants, located inside Terminal 1. The airport terminal also features a tourist information office, car rental agencies, a hair salon and a currency exchange office open in the terminal. Passengers will also find a variety of stores and restaurants in Terminal 2.
Waving to your loved ones and watching the big planes take off and land: the visitors' terrace at BER offers an exciting view of what is happening on the tarmac. The platform is located in Terminal 1 and is open daily from 9 AM to 6 PM. Before visiting, a time slot ticket must be booked online or at the ticket machine on site. Tickets cost three euros and are valid for one hour. Access to the visitor terrace at Berlin Brandenburg Airport is barrier-free.
BER Airport has a motorrway access to the A113 highway, which provides a fast connection from BER to the city centre of Berlin. BER can also be reached by car via the Schönefeld-Süd junction and the an the national road B96a. More than 10,000 parking spaces are available at the airport for passengers and visitors. Taxi stands are located at all airport terminals.
The long-distance bus stops at BER Airport are located in front of Terminal 1 next to car park 4.
Berlin Brandenburg Airport has a train station with several platforms directly under Terminal 1, where regional trains, S-Bahn trains,an InterCity train and the Airport Express (FEX), which connects BER with Berlin's city center, stop in convenient intervals. There is also a station under Terminal 5 served by trains of the S-Bahn lines 9 and 45 stop. The S-Bahn also runs between Terminals 1/2 and 5. All terminals also have central bus stops, where buses from Berlin or the surrounding Brandenburg area stop every minute.
